Art >> Hyperclassic
I've always liked classical architecture, specifically that of the ancient Romans and Greeks. The domus; the three orders; architraves; et cetera. Beautiful, elegant stuff. But what if those orders didn't stop in antiquity, or even with the various revivals and neoclassicisms that followed? What if our homes, offices, stadia and even skyscrapers were not only inspired and derived from, but informed directly by a finite set of architectural details: a stereobate; stylobate; capitals, an entablature; all that good stuff? This series of elevations takes small steps into that what-if scenario. The aim is not to mindlessly abide by every architectural edict; but merely to explore the possibilities...some humdrum...others odd. This series is currently in progress.
